6 Annoying Things North Dakotans Do When It Snows
Winter is here again, kicking a$$ and chewing bubble gum. I wish I could say the worst part of the Winter is the snow or the cold temps, but that's not it.
Here We Go Again
Without fail, every year people forget all the basic rules of Winter. We reset the learning curve. I decided to put together a list of the different things people do in Winter/snowy weather that is beyond ANNOYING. Here we go.
#1. SHOVEL SNOW TOO CLOSE TO THE ROAD
This one is actually scary. Some of you are not paying close enough attention. If you live on a busy road, steer clear of it when you're shoveling snow. I can't tell you how many times people have just popped out of the end of their driveways as I'm driving by. You're going to get hit. Clear your walk but watch what you're doing. You're making us nervous.
#2. NOT CLEAN OFF THEIR CARS
I literally saw this earlier today. People drive around with several inches of snow on their cars. The roof is forgivable, but when your entire back windshield is covered to the point where you can't see, it's not cool. It's dangerous enough with snow and ice on the ground; roll out of bed earlier and take the time to clear your windshields. Save a life.
#3. RAID THE GROCERY STORES
I'm not saying you shouldn't pick up a few things, but let's leave some toilet paper and food for the rest of us. It isn't always that serious. We're not going to live in a fallout shelter for 20 years.
#4. DRIVE LIKE DUMMIES
Act like you live here or something. It's like we forget how to drive. Stop a good distance ahead of the light. Give yourself plenty of time to get where you're going, and DRIVE SLOW. We really need to work on not plowing into ditches and light posts, because it's bad. Every time.
#5. TRY TO DRIVE ANYWAY
Know your limits. If you don't own a vehicle that's built for the snow, don't drive it. I see this all the time... Little car, big snow. Stop the nonsense! If you're in a little Toyota Corolla or something similar, it might be best to call for help. You will get stuck. It won't be pretty.
#6. PARK YOUR TRUCK ON SNOW MOUNDS
I'm not sure why people feel compelled to do this but... can we not? It makes me nervous. We get it, you have a big diesel truck. We hear you roar. Could you maybe stay off the grocery store snow mounds? It's weird and obnoxious. It's also dangerous. Although, I would like to watch some of you crawl out and up those things. I feel like it would be quite the spectacle.
Anyway, that's all I've got for now, though I'm sure there are many more annoying things to be mentioned. TTFN!
