The seasons have changed, the holidays are coming, and even though it's cold, there's still plenty you can do in North Dakota.

Bucket Lists

I generally have a ridiculous amount of things on my bucket list. I want to look into a volcano, see the seven wonders of the world, learn a foreign language or two, host my own Ted Talk, do my own stand up comedy special, get slimed on Nickelodeon's "Double Dare," and so on and so forth.

Those things are going to be a little difficult to get done before I dirt, but I'm determined.

If you're looking for more practical things that you can do in a shorter amount of time, I have just the list for you.

1. Turkey Trot & Santa Run

The Turkey Trot is held on Thanksgiving Day every year, and proceeds go to CFA North Dakota.

This year, the Santa Run will be held December 9th at the North Dakota State Capitol. Proceeds to go RAAD (Runners Against Drunk Drivers).

Both of these events are a good way to get up and moving. Lots of food gets eaten around the holidays, so it might not be a bad idea.

2. Holiday Lights on Main

This is new to the Bismarck-Mandan area, as it just started last year. It is a free event that runs from November 26th to January 7th at Mandan's Dykshoorn Park. Stop by this holiday delight for twinkling lights and all kinds of fun displays.

3. Pictures with Santa

Get your kids ready for Christmas and have their pictures taken with Santa. If you don't have kids. There are several places in BisMan that do this. Check back later for a list of Santa stops.

4. Chmielewski's Christmas Corner

This has been a delight for many years. There's one house that tends to be more festive than all the others in Bismarck-Mandan. Stop by for pictures and cocoa this holiday season.

You can find this amazing light display at 2228 Kennedy Ave.

5. Holiday Train

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train is sure to get you in the holiday spirit. It will roll through North Dakota again this year. Look for the train to be decorated with tons of lights and visit one of its stops for a concert performance.

Get your skis and snowboards out and enjoy this winter sport. If you're new to skiing, you can always join me on the bunny hill. I'm not new, I just suck at it.

7. Christmas in the Park

The Minot Sertoma Club will light up Oak Park this year; make sure to stop by for some Christmas-themed family fun.

Building a snowman is a fun activity you have to do every winter in North Dakota. -- It certainly snows enough to make this easy.
