Amanda Bynes’ Psych Hold Reportedly Extended to 14 More Days
More troubling news for Amanda Bynes today, as E! News reports that her involuntary psychiatric 5150 hold which was initially set at 72 hours beginning last Friday, Oct. 10, has been extended to a full two weeks starting today, Oct. 13.
After Bynes was admitted into Las Encinas Hospital on Friday, doctors took her in to observe her for a 72 hour period. If deemed hazardous to herself or others, they had the option of extending her stay to another 14 days.
Bynes displayed troubling behavior again in recent weeks beginning with a DUI arrest in late September. She then rushed off to New York City where it was reported that she attacked a fan, was accused of shoplifting at Barney's in New York City and then went on a tirade on Twitter claiming her father sexually abused her growing up. Bynes would later delete and recant her claims, but then said that her father planted a "microchip" in her head that made her say those things.
The 28-year-old former Nickelodeon star was lured to Los Angeles after Sam Lufti, Britney Spears' manager during her troubled days, convinced Bynes to come to Los Angeles. Lufti told Bynes that he could help her sue her parents when in reality, he was secretly working for Amanda's parents, Rick and Lynn Bynes. After Amanda arrived at LAX Airport, a car took her to a hospital instead of a meeting with lawyers.
As Bynes continues her stay at the hospital, it is expected that Amanda's parents will be fighting for a conservatorship over her well-being, much like they did in 2013.
