Anne Hathaway Wins Best Supporting Actress at the 2013 Oscars
Everyone saw it coming, but that doesn't make it any less thrilling: Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress at the 2013 Oscars for her heartbreaking work in Tom Hooper's 'Les Miserables.'
Although the role of Fantine is small when compared to others in the film, Hathaway's performance of the iconic "I Dreamed a Dream' is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in recent memory, all but ensuring her victory at the Academy Awards the moment the film first screened. The critics and guilds paved the way toward her victory, with virtually every major awards group giving her a nomination and usually a win.
Hathaway's beat out a murderer's row of talented actresses for the award, including Sally Field in 'Lincoln,' Amy Adams in 'The Master,' Helen Hunt in 'The Sessions' and Jacki Weaver in 'Silver Linings Playbook.'
This is Hathaway's second nomination (she was up for Best Actress in 2008 for 'Rachel Getting Married) and her first win. Now that she has an Oscar on her mantle (and has proven herself as an action heroine in 'The Dark Knight Rises'), Hathaway has permanently shaken off her past as a child star and the sky is the limit. We can't wait to see what she does next.
