With the major winter driving season over, most of us would expect a bit of a reprieve in gas prices... but the exact opposite is happening. In the last 14 days, Regular Unleaded prices have skyrocketed from $3.19/gal to the $3.49/gal that you will see at most gas stations today.

So what's the cause of the sharp increase? Crude oil prices have also jumped in the last month. At the end of January, crude oil was trading at around $97/barrel. At the end of trading yesterday, it was already at $102.82/barrel. That's the highest price since last summer, where prices soared as high as $110/barrel.

Today's $.10 bump in local gas prices takes Bismarck over the national average of $3.417/gal.
