Best Buy in Bismarck No Longer Selling CDs
They warned us it would happen this year. Best Buys everywhere are no longer selling CDs past this weekend.
The digital era of music has completely taken over. Today (July 1st) is officially the last day that Best Buys will have CDs in stock. We confirmed this over the phone with the Bismarck location as well.
Last year, CD sales were down $18.5 million in the U.S. Best Buy's revenue from CDs sold is down to just $40 million annually, which may seem like a lot, but it's a stark decline from what the numbers once were. Best Buy will continue to sell vinyl over the next two years, fulfilling their commitment to turntable manufacturers.
You may start seeing fewer CDs available at Target stores in the coming months as well. Target has made it known to music and video suppliers that the company will pay music labels when the CDs are sold as opposed to paying in advance for bulk orders of CDs.
So run to Best Buy and grab your CDs while you can. They close at 8 p.m. tonight.
