BisMan – Are You One Of The 20% That Steals On Purpose?
I wonder though just how many people do this by accident?
I was almost guilty of this statistic, although it was an innocent mistake. I once went through one of those self-checkout aisles at Dan's supermarket here in Bismarck, ran all my groceries through, stacked them all in plastic bags, and started to walk away - one thing missing, money from my pocket. I caught myself and quickly paid. I'm quite sure that others have done the same thing. Here is the thing I didn't know, stores like Walmart are taking a beating from people who steal from self-checkout stations - and there are many ways of thievery.
Here is a statistic I find myself shaking my head at
I read this statistic from the-sun.com and it blew me away - "Voucher Codes Pro, a company that offers coupons to internet shoppers, questioned 2,634 people and nearly 20 percent admitted to stealing items at the self-checkout kiosk" Now let's get to the many other ways people are stealing - people can easily attempt to put a different bar code from a much cheaper product on the item you are trying to swipe. Ok, you want to hear something way more shocking? There are some that actually confessed that ripping off the store at the self-checkout aisles actually justifies the act - why? "There is NO MORAL ISSUE with stealing from a store that forces you to use self-checkout, period. THEY ARE CHARGING YOU TO WORK AT THEIR STORE." the-sun-com reported.
Incredible, isn't it?
I just find it hard to believe that people would morally have no issue whatsoever - after all, stealing is STEALING - period.
