A national safety organization, fittingly named SafeWise, has listed the safest cities in North Dakota and Bismarck ranks 11th.

The list was made by using FBI crime statistics from 2014 in cities with a population exceeding 2,000 residents. Reported property and violent crimes per 1,000 residents also factored in. Taking the number one ranking as the "safest city" in North Dakota is the city of Beulah.

Beulah, ND has a population just over 3,000 and the data was configured to show that less than 2 people would be victims of a violent crime in the city.

The top five safest cities in North Dakota are listed as follows:

  1. Beulah
  2. New Town
  3. Carrington
  4. Stanley
  5. Lincoln

As Bismarck made the list at #11, some other notable rankings were Minot (#12), Fargo (#13), Dickinson (#14), and Williston (#21).
