According to Kiplenger's "Great Places to Retire in Every State" list, Bismarck is the place to be for retirees in North Dakota.

Citing its strong economy, Bismarck has been selected as the best place to retire in the state of North Dakota. For older adults in the area, many employment opportunities exist, especially in the service sector. The Milken Institute has also ranked Bismarck as the fourth best small metro area in the country for 'successful aging,' thanks to a solid health care foundation. Health care costs for retired couples is below the national average at $372,433 per retired couple.

With the percentage of the 65 and older population at 15.4 percent in Bismarck, the summer amenities are also abundant throughout the city, with plenty of activities to participate in on the banks of the Missouri River. And despite a higher cost of living than the rest of North Dakota, Bismarck's is just 0.8 percent above the national average.

Basically, if you're retired, you're in the right city in North Dakota.
