A Bismarck man, 28, is behind bars today after knifing another man in the neck, and will be charged with attempted murder.

That is, if the victim, whose condition is currently unknown, survives. If the victim dies, charges are likely to be upped to murder.

According to KFYR-TV, police reported that the stabbing occurred around 6:30 Monday evening (Feb 1). A witness claims the victim and his assailant "were walking side by side" on the 2200 block of East Thayer Avenue, "when the attacker stabbed the victim in the neck."

The victim was rushed to the hospital for surgery, and the assailant was arrested when the cops later found him on the corner of 24th Street and Broadway. Formal charges, as well as the victim's condition, are pending.
