A while ago, I noticed a post getting a lot of comments on Bismarck's People Reporting News; it was pretty interesting.

Someone anonymously posted that their boss had asked them how to make the office more fun. The person explained that the boss wanted feedback and ideas for team building. As you can expect, the comment section of this post exploded with funny, serious, and some not-so-serious ideas.

The Responses

Here are some of the ideas that were tossed around.

1. Easter Egg Hunt

Obviously, we're not using real eggs, but it could be fun to hide little trinkets, gift cards, or funny notes around the office. I'm in!

2. Escape Room Activity

I think participating in a normal workday is enough of an escape room activity for me, but I can see how this would be fun. You have to solve riddles and look for clues on how to escape the conference room. That definitely could be fun.

3. Coloring Contest

I guess this could be therapeutic and relaxing. I do have a "Colorful Cats & Snacks" coloring book at home.

4. An Office Pet

At every place I've worked, I have campaigned for this. A parrot? A cat? A puppy? Even a dang fish tank! Yes, let's do this.

Side Note: There is definitely a living organism growing in our refrigerator here. Does that count?

5. Potlucks & Pizza Parties

Food always wins.

6. Chili Cook-offs

YESSSS. Don't spill it all over the floor (The Office reference).

7. Nerf Guns

Ok, but aim away from the eyes. I like it, but I think this would get old really quick.

8. Hire a Massage Therapist

One person explained that their previous boss once hired a massage therapist to spend 20 minutes rubbing each employee's shoulders.

9. Donut Days

Again, food is always a yes.

10. Pranks

I once worked at a place where we printed out a bunch of pictures of Nicholas Cage and taped them all over the office. They were on phones, on food in the fridge, and even under desks. A year later we were still finding them.

Those were just ten ideas that were given, and I think they're all pretty great.

What do you think? What's a good way to make the office more fun?
