If you're anywhere in the Bismarck area, make sure to watch where you walk.

On Wednesday (10/15), the Bismarck Police Department began searching a home on the 400 block of N. 20th St., where an eight-foot boa constrictor escaped overnight. They believe the snake is still most likely somewhere inside the residence, but urge residents to be on the alert. They have already gone door-to-door in the immediate vicinity of the house.

The owners of the snake said it was in its enclosure Tuesday night (10/14) when they went to bed. Upon getting up Wednesday morning, they realized the snake was no longer in its cage. Due to the extreme conditions of the interior of the house, there are a number of hiding areas the snake could be in, including the duct work of the home.

Boa constrictors are not venomous. They usually hunt small rodents and are typically not dangerous to humans.

If you see the snake, please call the Bismarck Police Department at 701-223-1212.
