It's hard to sugarcoat something that can't be sugarcoated. Bismarck's housing market is terrible right now.

Nationwide's Health of Housing Report is released quarterly, and numbers from the first two quarters of 2016 are not good.

Across the US, the housing market is generally very good. The only areas that struggled seemed to be energy reliant areas such as North Dakota, Wyoming, and Texas.

Nationwide ranks 400 metropolitan statistical areas. In quarter two, Bismarck came in at the very bottom of the list ranking at number 400.

The markets are ranked on a scale from -2 to +4 and Bismarck right now is at -2. According to the report though, the negative ranking indicated only a, 'modest risk of a housing slowdown over the next year.'
