Does anybody else have spring fever?

I don't know about you, but all of these 30s and 40-degree temperatures have me thinking about spring fishing.

Yep, spring fever means the maiden voyage on the Missouri River and chasing those tasty walleyes.  For me anyway.

Let's face it.  We love our boats and pontoons in Bismarck Mandan.  Water recreation is a big part of who we are in this neck of the woods.

I ran across an article recently from Staten Island Yacts on the states with the most registered boats and yachts per capita. That's right, the states with the most recreational boats and yachts per 1,000 people.

No surprise that North Dakota ranks high on the list.

I'm willing to bet if we could break it down by counties in the state, that Burleigh and Morton Counties would be right near the top of the state.  After all, we have a water playground in our own backyard with the Mighty Mo, and not to mention Lake Sakakawea is just a short drive to the north.

Before we get to where North Dakota ranks, let's take a look at the states around us.

Minnesota comes in at #1 in the country.

South Dakota comes in at #8 in the country.

Big Sky country has the Missouri River, mountain lakes, and some big reservoirs to keep Montanans busy on the water.

And finally, North Dakota comes in at #6 in the country.

The Missouri River, Lake Sakakawea, and North Dakota's largest natural lake Devils Lake are all popular boat destinations.  Not to mention the hundreds of prairie lakes and sloughs full of Walleyes, Northern Pike, and Perch.  North Dakota is a paradise for boat and pontoon owners.

The Top 10 states are as follows:

1. Minnesota

2. South Carolina

3. Wisconsin

4. Maine

5. Michigan

6. North Dakota

7. New Hampshire

8. South Dakota

9. Louisanna

10. Iowa
