Congratulations are in order for Century High quarterback Dalton Feeney, who has been named the 2015-16 Gatorade North Dakota Football Player of the Year!

Feeney led the Patriots to a 10-2 record and the first Class AAA state championship in school history.

Over the course of the season, Feeney threw for over 1,700 yards and 19 touchdowns. He was also a First Team All-State selection this season.

The Gatorade North Dakota Player of the Year award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, according to a press release.

Feeney has maintained a 3.60 GPA at Century and has devoted some of his spare time to the local chapter of the Special Olympics and different youth programs in the area.

Feeney joins a long list of alumni who have previously won the award, including NFL Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis (Mackenzie High in Michigan). You can see more of the past winners at Gatorade.com.

In the fall, Feeney will head south to play baseball at the University of Missouri on a full scholarship.
