Do you believe you make the best chili in Bismarck? If so, enter the 9th annual Chili Bowl Cook-Off on Friday, Feb. 21 from 6-9pm at the Ramada Bismarck Hotel

General admission is $5 – come taste some of the best chili in the area! We’re looking for any business, restaurant, service group, or individual to make enough chili for our panel of judges and the public to enjoy throughout the evening. Participants must bring their own supplies and their BEST 8-10 gallons of chili. Townsquare Media will supply crackers, cheese, bowls, and utensils. Check out the complete rundown of event details.

There are no pre-made commercial ingredients allowed, all chili must be made from scratch. Each individual is required to follow the Super Chili Bowl Cook-Off Requirements. Take note of the following:

  • If the chili is made in an unlicensed kitchen (aka residential kitchen), a warning must be posted in a conspicuous location at the point of chili distribution
  • All chili must be made the same day of the event and not cooled. 8 – 10 gallons of chili is VERY difficult to properly cool. A five gallon bucket of chili placed in walk in refrigerator may take up to 4 days to cool.

Judges will be looking at the following criteria:

  • Aroma
  • Consistency
  • Color
  • Texture
  • Flavor

Each participant must bring a copy of the recipe and be prepared to list all the ingredients used. Judges pick for Best Chili and the public's vote for People's Choice will be announced at 8:30 p.m.

Click here for the individual registration form that must be completed and include the $40 entry fee by Feb. 5 at noon (business participants must contact the Townsquare Media business office at 250-6602).

Check out pictures of last year's event and don't miss out on your claim to chili fame!
