We have been waiting for spring and summer to finally show up in North Dakota. What better way to enjoy the warm weather months than with a little ice cream? One of our favorite spots to visit here in Bismarck if we want a sweet treat is the Dairy Queen that sits at 230 W Broadway in downtown Bismarck, right off Washington St.

If you're not looking closely, it's easy to miss. It's a tiny little walk-up location full of charm and history. It almost transports you back to the 1950's, when there were sock hops and poodle skirts. This is the perfect place to go after a baseball game, dance recital, or just in the mid-afternoon on a hot summer day. Without a doubt, visiting this store is a must for locals at least once each summer.

The Scoop

I spoke to the General Manager of the store, Lethe Hoxtell, and she says they are planning to open up for the season very soon.

She told me they just turned on the water and have a few odds and ends to take care of this week. After that, they are shooting for a May 6th opening.

Get ready to make some memories and to eat some sweet treats this spring and summer.

Now, let's take a look at some places you might also be interested in taking your kids this summer. Here's a list of places where kids eat free or at a discounted price in Bismarck-Mandan.
