For those of you looking for a little something different to do around Bis-Man, look no further than the Dakota Zoo. For the second year in a row, they hosted 'Brew at the Zoo', a two-hour event for patrons ages 21+ featuring beer, food, and live music, all within the friendly confines of the zoo grounds.

For $30 ($25 for members), visitors were treated to more than a dozen varieties of beers as well as food to sample. The Lowdown Dirty Dogs entertained the crowd from beginning to end, playing such favorites as 'Hotel California' and 'Wagon Wheel'.

Assistant Zoo Director Rod Fried explained the desire to provide something a little different to the community that might attract visitors who may otherwise never visit one of the city's most popular attractions. In only its second year, the event more than doubled the attendance, and saw more than 250 people through the gates.

For selfish reasons, I wish we would have been able to wander the entire zoo grounds throughout the event, but I obviously understand that the combination of alcohol and jungle cats don't necessarily mesh well. In any regard, it was such a fun and unique experience - I can't wait until next year!
