Which Decade Do North Dakotans Love Most – The 70s, 80s, or 90s?
Do you ever wish you could go back in time? Have you ever thought it would be cool to experience a certain time period through a different lens?
I think about this often. I was curious what North Dakotans thought of the different decades, so I posed a question on air and on Facebook:
"If you could time-travel to any decade, which decade would you choose and why?"
Taking the calls and looking through the comments was pretty fun. Many of you said you would love to go back to the 90s knowing what you know now.
I agree. Beanie Babies, the Spice Girls, Disney Channel Originals, butterfly clips, accidentally punching ourselves in the face to Billy Blanks workout tapes, portable CD players, Blockbuster Video stores, etc. --The '90s were a blast. What I wouldn't give to go back and experience that decade again.
Many of you said you would like to go back to the 70s. The 70s were AMAZING. Think about the bands and concerts. As a matter of fact, I'm wearing a Led Zeppelin shirt as I write this.
This was also when the Women's Rights Movement was really gaining momentum. #NoBras—it was an exciting time.
Toward the end of the 1970s, we started to get into the disco era, too. Fun fact: I have a weird obsession with disco balls. I went to a disco (ball) bar in St. Louis once, and it was awesome. Slightly overstimulating, but awesome. Well, awesome, until the man next to me threw up on himself. It went downhill from there.

Which Decade Is North Dakota's Favorite?
Overall, the 70s got the most love from North Dakotans, but the 80s came in at a close second. The hair, the fashion, the tights, Jane Fonda showing us how physically inadequate we were -- it was a great time.
