Prepare for that annual extra hour of sleep. It's that time of year when daylight saving time ends and the clocks get moved back.

The mornings will be lighter earlier (for now) and the afternoons will get darker sooner as a result of the end of daylight saving time. We officially fall back an hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning (November 4th).

The good news is, not only do you get to sleep longer (or if you're out partying, you get to party for a longer time), but unless you have an analog clock, you won't have to worry about manually switching anything since almost everyone's phones, computers, and DVRs switch the time automatically.

Daylight Savings was first implemented 100 years ago by the Standard Time Act of 1918. Last year, a bill was shot down that would've put North Dakota in its own time zone that would have done away with Daylight Saving Time altogether. Instead, now we can celebrate the 100th anniversary of our clocks being messed with.

And if you still have an analog clock, there are two things you need to remember:

  1. Set your clock back this weekend.
  2. Get a new clock.

At least we'll have several months before going back to Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, March 10, 2019, just in time for Spring.
