Everyone is Getting an Extra Hour of Sleep this Weekend
This weekend, it's time to turn the clocks back an hour, as daylight saving time ends and you get an extra hour to snooze.
The mornings will be lighter earlier and the afternoons will get darker sooner as a result of the end of daylight saving time. We officially fall back an hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning (November 5th).
The good news is, not only do you get to sleep longer (or if you're out partying, you get to party for a longer time), but unless you have an analog clock, you won't have to worry about manually switching anything since almost everyone's phones, computers, and DVRs switch the time automatically.
Daylight Savings was first implemented almost 100 years ago by the Standard Time Act of 1918. Earlier this year, a bill was shot down that would've put North Dakota in its own time zone that would have done away with Daylight Savings Time altogether. Unfortunately, we still have to set those nagging analog clocks back to the correct times.
At least we'll have several months before going back to Daylight Savings Time on Sunday, March 11, 2018, just in time for Spring.
