Planning on venturing downtown Friday night, May 13th, to 'feel the Bern' at the Bernie Sanders rally in Bismarck? Here's a few things you should know.

Gates will open to the public at 6 p.m. Friday on the east side of The Depot on S. 5th Street.

All are welcome to attend the rally and admission is free, though RSVPs are strongly encouraged. You can RSVP at the official Bernie Sanders website HERE.

For security purposes, attendees are being asked to leave all bags at home. Limit what you have on your person to small items, like cell phones, keys, etc. You will be required to go through a metal detector.

You will also not be allowed to bring in outside food or beverages, weapons, sharp objects, chairs, signs, or banners.

The Bismarck Police Department will be closing East Main Avenue from 4th Street to 5th Street and South 5th Street from East Front Avenue to East Main Avenue beginning at 5 p.m. If you have a vehicle in that area, you are asked to move it before 5 p.m. Roads will reopen at the conclusion of the event.

Public parking will be available in the Parkade, located at 114 North 6th Street, and the Third and Main ramp, located on the 100 block of North 3rd Street.

Carpooling will also be available. You can use the 5th Street Kirkwood Mall stop on the A1, A2, B1, and B2 bus lines, and 5th and Broadway stop on the E1 bus line, according to BernieSanders.com.
