The first official day of fall is September 20th, and it's been taking every ounce of self-restraint in me to not decorate every inch of my home with Halloween everything.

For weeks, we've seen signs of the seasons changing everywhere. Our local stores have decor and fall-themed baked goods, pumpkin patches are opening all across North Dakota, and of course, Spirit Halloween is up and running.

One other thing that is a sure sign we're getting into fall is our coffee menu. Most people consider pumpkin spice the quintessential fall flavor, but it looks like North Dakotans don't really agree.

According to a survey done by Mental Floss, pumpkin spice is not our favorite fall flavor. We actually have some of the lowest orders in the country when it comes to pumpkin-spiced coffees and lattes.

Hey, I get it; some people don't like pumpkin or the powerful flavor of pumpkin spice.

So what is our favorite fall coffee flavor? The source says it's caramel, which is great, but not very adventurous. Caramel is good for any season, really.
