Fall will be here before we know it, and there's something many owners struggle with throughout the season.

They're a real pain. German Yellowjackets can really put a damper on your fall fun plans and traditions, but that's not all; they may even make their way into your attics and garages.

According to Pest Control Consultants, their colonies peak in the fall. They also become more aggressive as they prepare for winter. They are swarming, they are buzzing, and they are jerks.

With that, you will soon start seeing their nest pop up all around your yard, around your house, and in nearby trees.

Before you decide to make it your mission to eliminate these pests, you should remember a few things.

According to PennState Extension, here are a few things you should remember before you decide to go head-to-head with these pests.

1. They are very territorial

2. They hate loud noises like lawn mowers

3. They can sting multiple times.

DIY Pest Control says if you're trying to get rid of them, you should do it at night, when it is dark. They are most active during the hottest part of the day, so avoid that time. Mark the entry points of their holes/nests and wait until dark.

The source says to kill them, you should use pyrethrum aerosols like Stryker 54. If you don't want to use such an aggressive approach you can also try to make the area less tempting to them by removing food sources (pet foods, hummingbird feeders, etc).

Once you've done this, you should check the nest the following day for activity. Good luck, and always consider reaching out to a pest professional for help.
