One Direction is one of the hottest bands out there right now, so it's no wonder they're in high demand to give interviews to radio DJ's, television cameras, and journalists alike. However, there are just a few questions they get tired of answering over and over.

DJ Scott Rush, a morning show co-host on Ottawa's The New Hot 88.9 radio station in Canada, was granted a 10 minute interview with 1D member Zayn Malik (we're so jealous, btw) and just before he was to be connected with the band, their publicist jumped on the line and explained that there are some questions that must not be asked.

The forbidden questions are as follows:

1. Who is your celebrity crush?
2. Which of you have girlfriends?
3. Who came up with the name One Direction?
4. Anything "X Factor"-related
5. Worst habits about each other
6. Do you guys fight?
7. Best prank someone pulled on you
8. Describe each other in one word
9. Funniest fan stories
10. If not in the band, what would you be doing?
11. Pre-show rituals
12. No questions about money or religion

So why are these questions a big no-no? Not because they're scandalous or odd, but because they're overused! The band is so used to answering the same questions that their fans have even spoken up about it, saying that they wish interviewers would ask something more original. We can't blame them at all. We'd hate to be asked the same questions over, and over, and over.

But Rush was so turned off by the ordeal, his interview lasted just a minute, pretending to russel through some papers trying to figure out questions to ask. And then of course he just had to talk, er, write about it. "I have never in my career experienced anything remotely close to this. Zayn is apparently dating a girl named Perrie from a girl-band in England. If I had been told not to ask about her because he's uncomfortable talking about it, that would have been fine," he wrote.

"They took it a mile further, which is why we did what we did. I could have done a full interview with Zayn and not touched on any of the banned subjects -- I was certainly prepared-but come on," continued Rush. "Sometimes you just have to say enough is enough."

Rush's experience made its way around the internet in lightning speed, despite having to remove the audio from their interview off of their website, per 1D's label. But the band's management did release a statement explaining the situation:

Regarding the recent story about One Direction "banning questions" -this is a complete misunderstanding. One Direction asked if certain recurring questions could be avoided in future interviews as the band were giving the same answers continually. They knew, via feedback, that the fans were requesting a wider range of subject matter in interviews. Questions relating to describing each band member, or referencing The X Factor, are certainly not out of bounds. A suggestion was merely made to try and make interviews more interesting for the fans, which has been misconstrued and misunderstood.

What do you think 1D fans? Do you think the guys were being a bit diva-like, or do you think the banning of the 12 questions was totally fair game? Let us know!
