Jimmy Kimmel Helps ‘Get Out’ Star Get In to the Oscars
How do you nominate Get Out for Best Picture and not invite one of the best parts of the whole movie to the Oscars?! That’s the big question we have after watching Jimmy Kimmel’s interview with Lil Rel Howery, who reveals that for some bizarre and probably dumb reason, he was not invited to the Oscars. Thankfully, Kimmel is hosting the ceremony this year, so he’s correcting this absurd oversight.
Howery, who played Daniel Kaluuya’s hilarious best friend in Get Out, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, where he revealed that he was not invited to the Oscars — even though Jordan Peele’s acclaimed horror film was nominated for multiple awards:
“We called and they’re looking for my ticket and they’re like ‘uh, you’re not in the first group’!” Howery said. “The first tickets they give out, I’m not on that list!” Sounds kind of fishy, right? It was definitely suspicious to Howery, so after he made that call, he says, “I went and YouTubed last year’s and counted both groups – the group that won and the group that thought they won. There was 20 people on that stage, so they get extra tickets!”
He definitely shared this information with the correct person. As you can see in the video, Kimmel immediately extends an invitation: “Listen, I’ll get you in don’t worry – I’m the host of it. You had a big part in that movie. It’s not like you had a little scene.” DAMN RIGHT.
We look forward to seeing Howery at the Oscars in March.
