In honor of spooky season, we are taking a closer look at each place in North Dakota that is rumored to be haunted. We are on to part two of this series, with a place in Dickinson that you might have heard of, as it was still operational until not too long ago.

St. Joseph's Hospital

St. Joseph's Hospital is located in Dickinson, North Dakota, and was established in 1912. In the early years of the hospital's operation, everything was seemingly normal, what you would expect at a hospital.

As the years went on, and decades passed, and renovations we made, and people died in the facility, people started noticing some spooky things. The morgue was reportedly one of the most haunted areas in the facility.

Look, a morgue is inherently spooky, but this one sounds like it was truly terrifying. According to North Dakota Haunted Houses, hospital employees claimed to have seen the elevator operating on its own, which is especially scary, seeing as how the doors must be opened from inside the morgue, unless you have a special access key.

The cafeteria of the hospital has also been pointed out as a scary spot in the hospital. The source reports that there have been numerous instances where patients and hospital staff have heard disembodied voices.

In the basement of the hospital, people have reported hearing the sound of running footsteps. The third floor is said to be haunted by an actual ghost. The source reports that in one of the rooms, the nurse's call button would get pushed when no one was present. Could it be glitchy technology, or is it an actual ghost?

For a time, locals turned the hospital into a Halloween haunted attraction, but those events are no longer running.

Haunted or No?

Is the St. Joseph Hospital haunted? It's impossible to say for sure, especially since it has been closed for years. In 2014, it was replaced with a new facility owned by CHI St. Alexius.

That said, the building has been converted into St. Joe's Plaza, where multiple restaurants and local businesses operate. Maybe the new tenants have some spooky stories to share.
