These 6 Horror Movies Were Actually Set in North Dakota
We are officially in spooky season, and if you're anything like me, you're planning to binge scary movies all month long. Before you launch Netflix, you might want to check this out.
Did you know several horror movies are set right here in North Dakota? We've compiled a list for you to watch.
Horror Movies Set In North Dakota

1. Population 436 (2006)
According to IMBD , this movie is about a U.S. Census Bureau employee who discovers the town has had a population of 436 for over 100 years. This is one of those "creepy towns you can't escape" stories that can only be described as a supernatural, psychological horror.
This movie is set in the fictional North Dakota town of Rowell Falls. Sadly, it wasn't even filmed in our state; according to IMBD it was actually filmed in Manitoba.

2. Devil's Gate (2018)
I'm sure you've heard of Devils Lake, but have you heard of Devil's Gate? It's the fictional North Dakota town where this movie is set. The film is centered around an FBI agent's investigation of the disappearance of a woman and her young son. According to AMC, nothing in this movie is quite as it seems.

3. Messengers (2007)
Set on a sunflower farm in North Dakota, this nail—biter stars Dylan McDermott and Twilight's Kristen Stewart.
The two start observing paranormal activity, seeing apparitions throughout the film. Stewart has to convince McDermott's character that the place is truly haunted.
4. 4 Cheerleaders of the Apocalypse (1997)
This is likely a horror movie you've never heard of; it's pretty obscure. According to IMBD , the movie is set in Yorktown, North Dakota, where hilariously bizarre events take place, turning a college campus into a bloody battleground.

5. Killer Movie (2008)
This slasher movie is set in a snowy, remote North Dakota town. A TV director visits the area to shoot a reality series about the town's local hockey team. Throughout the movie, members of the production crew and the town start turning up dead. The movie is a "whodunnit" mystery.

6. Leprechaun (1993)
This is one film I cannot watch. The villain is just too creepy for me. The characters travel to Ireland and end up stealing a pot of gold. This turns out to be a terrible decision: when they return to North Dakota, they realize the gold belongs to an, you guessed it, evil leprechaun.
The movie stars Warwick Davis and Jennifer Aniston.
