How Much Money did North Dakotans Lose in 2020?
How much income did North Dakotans lose in 2020?
According to Newsweek, the 2020 pandemic caused North Dakotans to lose in the ballpark of five percent of their income. While the drop is reportedly lower than expected, I would say the drop is still maddening. Especially because these North Dakotans who are suffering from a five-percent income loss were impacted by no fault or choice of their own.
North Dakotans should be compensated for this income loss.
I was fortunate to maintain my job throughout the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. But my heart broke for my friends and family members who were forced to stay home and bear the burden of inconsistent or no income. These people had no say in the matter, they just had to stay home and fear the loss of their livelihoods. Anyone who took a hit financially because of the pandemic deserves more than those stimulus checks.
There has already been a proposal to give North Dakotans a $1,300 check.
Back in October, it was reported that North Dakota State Rep. Jeff Magrum proposed that North Dakotans get a nearly $1,300 check cut from the billion dollars in federal aid our state got. And, at the time of this post, it does not seem like North Dakotans would be getting that type of money from the state.
How can large corporations and businesses get bailed out by the government financially, but common people can't expect to be compensated in times of need? Again, this loss of income is because of the government. People should be compensated.
