Think about this: nominating someone you know or may have heard about from other Bismarck, Mandan people, as a hero, is a pretty tall order. We all have someone or some people we genuinely respect, and some of us have those we strive to be like. Here is a chance to give it some thought and make someone a hero in Bismarck and Mandan.

Nominations Open for 2026 SCHEELS Hidden Hometown Heroes

The nominations have started already ( Monday, March 9th ), If you know a Community Champion with a story worth celebrating, please submit a nomination at larksbaseball.com. Nominations will be collected from March 9 to March 27. According to a press release from yesterday:

"The Bismarck Larks are proud to announce nominations are now open for the annual SCHEELS Hidden Hometown Heroes program, a partnership with Bismarck Magazine, to celebrate the unsung heroes in our community.

Community Champions

The program looks to recognize everyday people who make our community stronger by serving others. Whether their impact is on mental health initiatives, serving disadvantaged members of our community, or setting positive examples for the next generation of leaders, this program is designed to tell their stories.

“At SCHEELS, we believe strong communities are built by people who show up for others, often without expecting recognition. We’re proud to celebrate the individuals who give their time, heart, and energy to make our community better. Celebrating these stories reminds us all how much one person can truly make a difference,” Melissa Neutman, SCHEELS Community Relations Lead, said.

Out of the nominations, ten stories will be featured in Bismarck Magazine’s summer issue. The magazine will be distributed in May.
