One of the most popular little cafes in the Capital Region just announced some changes.

In a heartfelt post on their Facebook page, Little Cottage Cafe, a locally owned establishment, said they are cutting back on their hours.

This is due to some health issues with one of their owners, who has developed Charcot.

For those of you who do not know what Charcot is, it is a complication associated often with diabetes. It's also known as neuroarthropathy, and is a condition that affects the bones and joints of the foot. It reduces sensation in the feet, making diabetics more prone to injury. Diabetes is something I'm all too familiar with.

I caught wind that Little Cottage might even be closing, just a rumor. I decided to give them a call, and I spoke with one of their managers, and that is completely false.

Little Cottage is literally legendary in the city of Bismarck.

They are known for so many of their tasty dishes, and are often praised for their treats like caramel rolls, scotcheroos, and so many others.

What are the changes coming to Little Cottage Cafe?

Their hours of operation will be reduced immediately, starting today, Saturday, September 6th.

They will remain closed on Tuesdays, and the remaining days of the week will be from 7 am to 3 pm. Again, this is according to their Facebook post.

This is to help their owner (Bob) stay off his feet, as he has been advised to stay off his feet as much as possible.

I should mention that the owner is not diabetic, but he has still been diagnosed with Charcot.

The post goes on to say this health problem may decide the course of Little Cottage's future. We certainly wish them the best and hope for many more "open" days for the beloved Bismarck cafe.
