Drought Stricken Rain

Most of our listening area is now in a severe drought, so any form of precipitation at this point is welcome. Thunder and rain showers woke up most of North Dakota, as a good swath of rain blanketed the state early this morning, moving across much of the state. It's still raining in the eastern part of the state as I write this article, a place where they desperately need rain as they are in an extreme drought in places like Fargo and Wahpeton. Those areas are likely to pick up well over an inch as storms intensify as they move to the east.

The forecast called for somewhere between a quarter of an inch and up to a half of an inch for us in Bismarck-Mandan, and the National Weather Service was spot on, because that is about what we got. One area in South-Central North Dakota did a little better with totals just over an inch.

More Rain on the Way & Windy

We are in a Wind Advisory for most of our listening area from 3 pm today until 4 am Tuesday, September 15th. West winds gusty at 25 to 35 with gusts up to 45 miles per hour. This wind will dry us out quickly, but we do have the chance for more rain this week. We have a chance for showers on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
