Winter Storm Potential Upgraded For Much Of Southern ND
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch
This includes Morton County in our listening area and all points south. Emmons, Logan, Sioux, Grant, and McIntosh Counties are all in this Winter Storm Watch, which runs from 7 am on Saturday, March 14th, until 1 pm Sunday, March 15th. Here's a look at the watch area, which basically includes all of southern North Dakota.
Expect this watch area to turn into a Winter Storm Warning later today, and depending on the track of this storm, some counties could be added, including the likes of Burleigh and Kidder in our listening area.
Impacts of this potential Winter Storm
4 to 8 inches of snow with 40 mph winds. Widespread blowing snow could cause travel difficulties and significantly reduce visibility.
Here's what our friends at the Bismarck Bubble have to say about snowfall totals and potential impacts.
It appears we are right on the edge here in Bismarck-Mandan, and depending on how this system shifts could make all the difference from a couple of inches to significantly more.
The Good News?
Buy late next week, much warmer air is expected to reach North Dakota, and 40s, 50s, and even 60-degree temperatures should melt any snow we receive this weekend fast.
