🌨️Winter Storm Watches Posted For Much Of North Dakota

The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a Winter Storm Watch for just about half of North Dakota.

The watch area includes Slope County, including the city of Amidon in southwest North Dakota extending in a line from Dickinson, Beaulah, Washburn, Harvey, Devils Lake, Grafton, up to Pembina, and all points north of the line.

The Winter Storm Watch also includes the cities of Minot, Williston, and Watford City.

This Winter Storm Watch is in effect from late Tuesday Night through Late Thursday night.

Heavy wet snow is possible.  Confidence is high with a 70 to 90% chance of 6 inches or more of snow.

Travel could be very difficult in the watch area. 

This system could impact your morning and evening commute on Wednesday and Thursday.  Two different bands of snow are expected.  You may see a break in the snow Wednesday night before a heavier snow impacts western and central North Dakota.

Bismarck, Mandan, and Lincoln are expected to receive some accumulating snow too.

However, it appears now we will be right on the edge of this snowline and will receive mostly rain with maybe an inch or so of snow.  You won't probably have to go too far north on 83 before you run into heavier snow.

Unseasonable cold temperatures are expected to follow this system from Friday and through the weekend.  We could even see another round of snow on Saturday (It's not looking like a big system at this point).  High temperatures are expected to be in the 20s with low temperatures in the lower teens into early next week.
