Justin Timberlake Is Making the Jump from Movies to TV With a Surprising New Role
After spending his acting career focused mostly on film, Justin Timberlake is finally heading to the small screen ― but not in the way you might think.
As reported by Deadline, the Man of the Woods singer has teamed with Dax Shepard for Spin the Wheel, a high-stakes game show that offers contestants a chance to win over $20 million per episode. Shepard will man hosting duties, while Timberlake will oversee things behind scenes as an executive producer.
“I can’t think of a better job than giving out millions of dollars to nice people,” Shepard, who's currently at work on Fox pilot Bless This Mess, said in a press release. “It’s my chance to finally be Willy Wonka.”
Created by Timberlake and The Wall EP Andrew Glassman, Spin the Wheel pits players' trivia knowledge against a massive 40-foot wheel. Each correct answer adds more cash to the wheel’s wedges ― the locations of which are strategically chosen by the contestant ― while wrong answers add negative wedges to the wheel, potentially knocking their total back down to zero.
Once they've amassed a hefty prize, the contestants must decide whether they want to walk away with the money, or take one last shot at the wheel for even bigger winnings.
Spin the Wheel is scheduled to premiere on Fox during the 2018-2019 season.
