Kanye West debuted his Yeezy Season 4 during New York Fashion Week on Wednesday (Sept. 7) and it drew sharp criticisms for the way the models were treated during the presentation.

According to the New York Post, models were stumbling on the runway because of poorly-designed stilettos and one model reportedly fainted in the heat with no assistance from West’s camp.

Stella Bugbee, an editorial director at New York magazine’s The Cut, who attended the event, slammed West for his poor treatment of the models. In her editorial for NYMag.com, she felt the civilian models were being tortured on the runway.

"For 15 minutes or so we watched as one by one the street-cast models kneeled in what looked like exhaustion," she writes. "Part of the plan, I thought. Another model wilted. More models sat down."

Bugbee also watched as one model faint in the heat as another model helped her up. She was eventually given water. Another model went down. Eventually, a man in the front row gave her his water.

Reviews of West's Yeezy Season 4 garnered mixed reactions on social media. One writer called the show "a celebration of black beauty," while many others are calling the show a disaster.
