Much of Lana Del Rey's music is dark and haunting, but a recent interview she gave to UK's The Guardian revealed some deeply disturbing and surprising statements.

"I wish I was dead already," the 'Ultraviolence' singer revealed. When the interviewer was shocked at the statement, he instinctively began insisting that she didn't really mean that.

"I do!" she replied. "I don't want to have to keep doing this. But I am."

"This" meaning making music? he questioned. (The singer recently dropped her latest record 'Ultraviolence.')

"Everything. That's just how I feel," she explained. "If it wasn't that way, then I wouldn't say it. I would be scared if I knew [death] was coming, but …"

According to The Guardian, Del Rey revealed just how deeply unhappy she is in her life and career.

"Family members will come on the road with me and say: 'Wow, your life is just like a movie!'" she revealed. "And I'm like: 'Yeah, a really f----d-up movie.'"

Del Rey has faced a lot of criticism and backlash after her breakout first single 'Video Games,' with many wondering if her whole act was fake. But despite all of that, the reporter notes, the single was what introduced the world to Del Rey and was highly praised by many. Still, Del Rey insists that she never had a moment to enjoy her success.

"I never felt any of the enjoyment," she explained. "It was bad, all of it."

And her current relationship with fellow musician Barrie-James O'Neill doesn't seem to offer much solace.

"We have a very difficult road," she said of their relationship. "He's a very dark character. He has months on end where it's a really dark stretch of writing and waiting, he has his total own world so …"

Still, the reporter finds to find some trace of happiness in the singer's life, so he touches on the moments she spends with fans at her concerts. Does that make her happy?

"No," she said. "I don't know what I think. All I know is that, right now, I like sitting here, on this terrace."

While the dark place that she is in may help Del Rey create intense music, we hope that she finds a sense of happiness and peace in her life.
