Bismarck Middle School Principal Receives Patriot Award

Congrats to Simle Middle School Principal Russ Riehl on being the recipient of the Patriot Award!

The award is present by the U.S. Department of Defense. It goes to employers showing support for employees in the National Guard and Reserve Force.

Riehl was nominated for the award by Kalli Swenson, an eighth-grade physical education teacher at Simle. She has served in the North Dakota National Guard for 14 years and will be deployed to Afghanistan next month for her second yearlong deployment.

The award was presented to Riehl in a surprise ceremony this past Friday in the school's gymnasium.
