Everyone swears every now and then. It happens: we injure ourselves, we get angry, or we just let it slip into laid-back conversations.

Did you know that the average person curses 80 to 90 times a day? This, according to a Business Insider report.

Have you ever wondered if certain swear words are more popular than others in different parts of the country?

Well, as it turns out, this is true. A study by WordTips looked at tweets from all 50 states and 350 cities to find out which swear words people were using most.

The source found that the most popular swear word in the country is s**t (another name for poop). The second most popular curse word overall is "f**k". 13 states really like to drop the f-bomb.

States That Swear The Most & Least

It also found that residents in the state of Georgia swear more than any other state in the U.S. They use 48 swear words per 1000 tweets.

The state that curses the least is our neighbor, Minnesota, with 15 swear words per 1000 tweets.

North Dakota's Favorite Curse Word

So, which curse word do North Dakotans like to use the most? It might be because we're North Dakota nice, but ours is pretty tame. We like to use "Hell" the most. That's not so bad, right? Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Missouri all had "Hell" as their favorite curse word, so maybe it's a Midwestern thing.

Personally, I'm going to make it my New Year's resolution to stop cursing next year. Seeing that the average person curses 80 to 90 times a day blows my mind!
