Man Pays Tribute To History of Video Game Music With Video

For a lot of us, playing video games were a key source of entertainment during our childhood — and still are some of us. Reminiscing over our favorite games and waxing nostalgic over the memories we created playing them together is certainly a common thing for my friends and I.

Still it's kind of mind blowing when you think about how long video games have been around. Pong, famously known as one of the first widely circulated games, came out in late 1972. It wasn't too long until arcades became a popular attraction, and the industry has only grown from there.

So with that in mind, one man decided to pay tribute to video game history with a video dedicated to showing the evolution of music in video games through the years. Rob Landes — whose Facebook page says he is classically trained musician — is the man behind the video, and let me tell you his performance when send you on a pleasant trip down memory lane.

Gamer's will delight as he touches on the soundtracks for several iconic games. From Mario, to Crash Bandicoot, to Goldeneye. He even includes more recent games like Witcher 3, Overwatch and Fortnite.

In addition to the music, the costume and props are a nice touch. Some of my favorites included his Assassin's Creed, Mortal Kombat, and Skyrim costumes, but the Tetris one takes the cake.

If I had one gripe — especially as someone who grew up with a Gameboy in the 90s — it would be that he played the theme song from the Pokémon TV show instead of the music from the game. However, he did such a bang up drop with the rest of it, we'll let him slide on that one.
