Do you ever wonder what it would be like if you were a celebrity? A rock star? A top athlete in his or her sport? Someone who lives life with all eyes on you, whether you are out and about, shopping, or even going to the store - you will be recognized and judged from afar. Those people who have already liked or disliked you without ever getting to know you. In professional sports, the hated ones are the highly paid superstars - the pros that move from city to city playing for whatever team will put up the most money - if you were in their shoes you would do the same thing - the career life span of a top-notch competitor is short - this is a profession.

We tend to forget that people in the "public eye" are human, just like us. They have a family, loved ones that have raised them, attend their events, games and have been by their side from birth. Minnesota Timberwolves Karl-Anthony Towns is a perfect example. An NBA giant whose heart was crushed almost a year ago - his mother Jackie Cruz-Towns, passed away from complications of COVID-19 on April 13, 2020. I don't care if you are a seasoned veteran or a rookie, your first time on stage singing a song, or maybe just a simple awards ceremony - when your parents are there beaming with pride, it's what life is all about.

Jackie loved to be at his games, sit near the court, making friends with even some of the opposing players - "My mom would be the one to go at the stanchion, or be there and wave at me until I said hi to her or came and hugged her."   Last night, at the Barclays Center in New York, Karl Towns Sr. was one of the first fans there - He had on a white No. 32 jersey that said "Towns" on the back - walking down the steps beaming with pride, he waved at his son doing his warm-ups - "Me and my dad got emotional before the game, Because he made his presence known. It affected me because my mom always did that."

Minnesota wound up losing to Brooklyn 112-107, the real winners were the Towns together again - father and son. Check out what Karl-Anthony had to say after the game.
