Prepare yourself for something awful. Soon we will find ourselves waking up to darkness, going home in darkness... just darkness. We will soon transition out of the summer months and find ourselves asking, "Where did the time go?"

As you probably know, Daylight Saving (yes, it's 'Saving', not 'Savings') Time will soon end, and for the first few weeks, many North Dakotans feel it is a rough transition. To help, here are a few things you should know about the upcoming change.

#1. Spring forward, fall back. Unless you want to show up to work an hour early, don't mess this up; it will not be fun.

#2. Last year, in North Dakota, Daylight Saving Time ended on Sunday, November 3rd. This year, it's coming for us a little sooner, which feels totally unfair. Yep, Daylight Saving Time dates vary year to year. This year (2025), we will need to set our clocks back a day earlier.

#3. In North Dakota, Daylight Saving Time is set for Sunday, November 2nd at 2 am.

While you might not love all the darkness that comes with the end of Daylight Saving Time in North Dakota, there is a way to look at things on the bright side, so to speak.

We get more sleep. Yes, setting our clocks back rewinds time and makes our mornings feel a little longer, at least for a short while.

You also get earlier bedtimes, because who wants to do anything in the dark?

Pro Tips: Mark your calendars, set extra alarm clocks, and don't forget that pesky microwave clock.

Note: Daylight Saving Time will return next year (2026) on Sunday, March 8th.
