North Dakotans Know What ‘Midwest Sober’ Means All Too Well
Maybe you're planning to pop a few beers and host a barbecue this weekend. --After all, it is a holiday, people like to have a good time.
Drinking In North Dakota
North Dakota has a reputation for being "Nice," but we also have another reputation; we like to drink. All Midwesterners know how to throw 'em back.
If you're a true Midwesterner you probably have heard the term "Midwest Sober." Even if you haven't you might be "Midwest Sober-ing" without knowing it.
Don't know what it means? Allow me to explain.
According to the TikTok video posted by "shotofwiscopod" being "Midwest Sober" doesn't mean you're sober at all.
The video paints the scenario: let's say you're out drinking for several hours and you're sipping on a mixed drink. You start to notice you're getting a little light-headed, maybe a little wobbly. You feel like you're starting to get past that point.
To prevent yourself from getting blackout drunk, you do what?
WWMD? ( What Would a Midwesterner Do)
A normal person would stop drinking alcohol and switch to water, but no, not in North Dakota, not in the Midwest. How dare you even suggest that?
When we start to feel that way, we ...switch to beer.
Yep, Midwest Sober is when you start to get a little too lit, so you put down the mixed drinks and switch to beer.
Does this sound pretty accurate to you? Do you do this? Should Midwesterners work on themselves?
