Crazy things happen all of the time in North Dakota. Have you ever wondered if there was a specific time of year that's more dangerous than others?

I'm sure we could argue that December or January are the most dangerous months in North Dakota when it comes to the weather and cold, but what about car accidents?

See, I would think that any of the winter months would be considered more dangerous than say, spring or summer, but as it turns out, that's not the case.

A study was done by Professional Insurance Agents Western Alliance looking at all fifty states. They wanted to find out which months were the most dangerous and deadly.

North Dakota

What the study found for North Dakota is pretty surprising.

The number one most deadly month for driving crashes and accidents is July. Hard to believe, right? You would think it would be a month where there's snow and ice on the ground.

The source says that, across the country, there were 108,718 incidents between 2018 and 2023.

August comes in at number two and is then followed by June.

Any theories as to why the summer months are so much more dangerous? I'm stumped by this.

Safest Month

Which is the safest month in North Dakota? I'm happy to report that it's the one we're currently in. Yes, March is the safest month for driving incidents.

Now that you have this info, you know when to be more cautious. Keep your eyes on the road this summer!
