Changes Ahead? These Kiosks in North Dakota Might Disappear Soon
Gone are the days of renting movies from a video store. It's sad.
When video stores started closing all across the country, little movie rental kiosks started popping up.
Redbox was a hit for a while, but unfortunately, with on-demand movie rentals and streaming services, the need for them has declined.
No More Nostalgia?
It's sad enough that all of our movie rental stores are gone; now those cute little kiosks that spit out those little red disks might be gone forever, too.
Redbox's parent company, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. According to CNN, the company reported almost $1 billion in debt.
The source claims the company owes money to BBC, Sony Pictures, Walmart, and Walgreens.
With the liquidation bankruptcy filing, we might see these Redbox kiosks leaving many stores.
North Dakota
Currently, there are more than 34,000 Redbox locations throughout the United States.
The big question is: Will we be losing any Redbox kiosks in North Dakota?
I have yet to get confirmation that they will be leaving any North Dakota locations. Here's a list of where you can find them in Bismarck-Mandan.
Family Fare, Bismarck - 835 S. Washington
Family Fare, Bismarck - 3101 N 11th
Family Fare, Mandan - 500 Burlington St SE
Walmart Supercenter, Bismarck - Rock Island Pl
Walmart Supercenter, Bismarck Skyline Blvd.
Walmart Supercenter, Mandan - 100 Old Red Trail
CVS Pharmacy, Bismarck 525 S. 3rd

Several other Redbox kiosks are also located throughout the state: in Dickinson, Garrison, Beulah, Williston, and Minot.
Keep your eyes open over the next few months; your nearest Redbox might disappear.
