4 North Dakota Retailers Are Raising Prices Due To Tariffs
The word "Tariff" is something we've heard more in the past few months than we probably have in the past few years. Higher import tariffs are causing retailers to raise prices in their stores, and North Dakotans could soon feel the squeeze.
According to Cheapism, a new round of import tariffs (a flat 10% on most goods and 50% on products from places like China, Vietnam, and Indonesia) are putting pressure on retailers.
The source says 4 North Dakota retailers are raising their prices as a result.
1. Walmart
According to CNBC, after an earnings call in mid-May, the retail giant's CEO announced that we will see more price hikes this month (June 2025).
Affected items include bananas, avocados, coffee, roses, toys, and electronics.
2. Best Buy
CNBC also says that the CEO of Best Buy, Corie Barry, says a price hike is a last resort for the stores. This, after cutting costs in other areas.
3. Target
According to Cheapism, Target has already seen some increases as a result of the hikes, but more are likely still to come.
4. Costco
A store many of us visit in order to save a dollar or two, similar to Walmart, may raise its prices on essential items such as produce, flowers, etc.
There are several other stores across the country that will also be raising their prices. To see the list, look here.
