Two North Dakota Starbucks locations are closing as part of a nationwide store reduction. We hear about new businesses opening in North Dakota all the time, but unfortunately, today we learned that the major coffee chain is closing two locations in our state.

Starbucks has long been a juggernaut in the coffee business, but recently news broke that the chain would close more than 250 stores nationwide, and both Grand Forks and Fargo will be among the cities affected.

This is actually the second wave of nationwide closures since last fall. During that time the company closed 627 stores. Yahoo Finance says this is part of the company's 'turnaround plan,' led by its new CEO. Another source, Fast Company reported that the COO issued a statement last week saying the 250 locations set to close could not achieve a path to acceptable financial performance, and could not consistently deliver the experience they want for their customers.

Starbucks Locations Now Closed In North Dakota

The Starbucks company hasn't issued an official list of which stores are closing, but Inforum reported just days ago that Fargo's 2377 S University Dr. location and Grand Forks' 4641 S. Washington St location both have signs on the doors indicating they are closed for business. We can't say for sure whether other North Dakota locations will close in the coming weeks; keep checking back for updates.
