3 Things North Dakotans Have That People In Other States Don’t

Living in North Dakota is quite different than living in other parts of the country. If you're new to the area or plan on moving here soon, you might want to keep this information in mind.

1. AutoStart

Let's start with something practical.

If you live in a warmer climate, it probably never occurred to you that you would need an automatic car starter. When I say this is essential in North Dakota, I mean it. It is too cold to be playin' around. If you don't have a garage, this is a must.

You will also need a snowblower and windshield scraper.

2. A Love/Hate Relationship with Summer

While the cold can be brutal in North Dakota, and we long for the warm weather months, there is a trade-off.

Road construction.

Road construction is absolutely terrible in spring and summer. As much as we appreciate the warmth, we will complain about the spring and summer seasons for this reason.

3. A Reputation

We are known for being North Dakota nice. We're known for drinking beer. We're also known to pop you in the face if you talk crap about our state. If you hear these things about us, know they are all absolutely true.
