The Bismarck Police Department released a report in the past week which analyzes crimes and traffic from 2015.

Based on the report, serious offenses are up 25 percent from 2014. Serious offenses include both personal and property crimes. The amount of violent crime handled by the department also reported and increase of 25.76 percent from 2014 to 2015. This, despite being down nearly 10 percent in each of the two previous years.

As previously reported, the Bismarck City Commission has approved the hiring of eight additional police officers in 2017. This is to help with more overall visibility, especially after a reported 37,000 calls being made to the Bismarck PD last year.

The hiring of the additional officers are being done in hopes that this will cut down on the personal and property crimes.
