Anytime you see black smoke like this, you know something is terribly wrong.  While we've been enjoying seasonal weather this week, and no snow, parts of the region have gone full blown Winter.  Central and southern Minnesota had a couple days of snow and ice this week, and it lead to some treacherous driving conditions.  Check out this shocking video taken on I-94 west of Monticello, Minnesota.  It gets you so close to the flames, you can almost feel the heat.  It seems that way anyway.

To be honest, I don't see how they could even allow oncoming traffic to drive by this blaze? To me, it seems like explosions could certainly be possible. As you watch the video, you can see all the cars and trucks stacked up.

According to an article on CBS Minnesota, 29 vehicles were involved in the pile up and 9 people were sent to the hospital.  It shut down traffic in both directions eventually.  This accident happened just after 9 a.m. Thursday morning after the National Weather Service issued it's first ever "Snow Squall Warning."

Certainly "Jaw Dropping" video, and how nobody died during the accidents is incredible.  I 94 was completely reopened at about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.  The state patrol said east bound traffic was only closed for about four hours, while traffic to the west was shutdown for nine and a half hours.

Again, very fortunate that nobody lost their life during this horrific accident.  A big reminder that Winter weather is here, and be aware of  your driving conditions.
